Philosophy:

The philosophy of College of nursing is to be committed for providing best nursing education through competent nursing professionals and imparting high end technology skills along with essence of humanized care of patients and community by adopting ethical nursing practice.

About us:

The college of nursing has been started in 2014 in the premises of government medical college and hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh. This institute is one of its own kinds in imparting the liberal education (intellectual, moral and physical) of international standards with a view towards all-round development of the students; to promote professional education in the field of nursing at Degree level and to cater to the needs of the people of state and country at large. The institute plans to further introduce courses in advanced and specialized nursing. This is an important landmark in the history of the Chandigarh administration, as this institute enjoys the status of being first government nursing college and its educational activities will lead to better health services and quality patient care.

Clinical Training

Real life clinical experiences are imparted to students through clinical Training in its own parent 795 bedded hospital and community training in Rural Health Training Centre, Palsora and Urban Health Training Centre, Sec 44, Chandigarh.

Infrastructure

The college of nursing is running in the GMCH building equipped with modern facilities. It has spacious & well ventilated lecture theatres, seminal rooms and examination hall. Laboratory section comprises of Nutrition lab, Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Lab, Community lab & Fundamentals of Nursing Lab. Also, Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology, Biochemistry and computer labs are available in their respective departments for versatile experience of students. The institute library is enriched with literature, nursing journals (National & International) Magazine & Professional Books. College is served by IT department where computer terminals are available for the use of students. College has big, spacious & AC Auditorium. Hostel facility is also available.

College of nursing is affiliated to Indian nursing council (INC), New Delhi, Punjab Nurses Registration Council (PNRC), Chandigarh and Punjab University, Chandigarh.
 
Courses offered:
  • B.Sc. (Nursing) degree course
  • Distribution of seats:
    • U.T Chandigarh Pool (85% seats) i.e. 30 seats with 25 seats of General category and 05 seats of Scheduled caste category
    • General Pool (Other states 15% seats) i.e. 05 seats with 04 seats of General category and 01 seat of Scheduled caste category (Seats remaining vacant in any of the reserve categories shall be filled from the eligible General Category candidates in accordance with prevailing rules on this subject).
  • Eligibility criteria:
    • A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually both in Theory as well as practical & must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University
    • In respect of candidate belonging to SC the marks obtained as stated above will be 40% instead of 50% for general category.
    • Candidate must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st Dec., of the corresponding year.
