Services

The department has shifted to Block-D, Level-Il on 13th August 2012. The department has new 13 high end microprocessor controlled dental chairs of international standard, a dental X-ray machine and OPG machine and automatic x-ray developer.

At present the department is providing:

  • OPD Services.

  • Special Clinics which provide services in different specialties of Dentistry: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Endodontics.
  • In patient services for Maxillofacial trauma, oral cancer and other pathologies.
  • Operation Theatres at main OT block.
  • 24 Hours on call emergencies services, Provision of on call services to all departments, handling of all emergency cases related to dentistry and maxillofacial trauma reporting to the hospital.

 

Pedodontics

Preventive:-

  • Chairside preventive measure for dental caries, high caries including rampant caries, Pit & fissure sealant, Diet counselling and Topical fluoride application

Restorative:-

  • Using Glass Ionomer Cement, composite, Stainless steel crown, strip crown, crown veneer, fibre post

Pediatric endodontics

  • Primary: - Diagnosis of pulpal disease and management
  • Young permanent & permanent teeth: - Pulp capping, pulpotomy, apexogenesis, apexification

Prosthetic Management in Pediatric patients

Traumatic injuries management in children:-

  • Management of traumatised teeth & jaw fractures in children.

Interceptive Orthodontics

  • Recognition & Management of normal and abnormal developmental occlusion in primary and mixed and secondary dentition.
  • Myofuctional, removable appliance and space management
  • Management of deleterious oral habits (Digit sucking, Tongue thrusting, Mouth breathing in children)

Dental care for children with special needs (Physically handicapped, Intellectually Disabled/Visually Impaired/Medically compromised conditions, Genetic Disorders)

  • Management of Oral manifestations of systemic conditions in children.
  • Management of Minor oral Surgery procedure in children.
  • Dental Radiology related to Pediatric Dentistry (Pediatric Oral Medicine).
  • Dental emergencies in children & management
  • Dental Health education and school dental health programmes
  • Compressive Infant Oral Health Care
  • Minimum Invasive Procedures

Orthodontics

  • Fixed orthodontics
  • Dentofacial orthopaedics
  • Rapid Maxillary Expander (RME)
  • Maxillary Protraction (Face Mask)
  • Mandibular Protrusion (Functional Appliances like twin block etc)
  • Cleft lip and palate orthodontics
  • Paediatric – orthodontic treatment including
  • Removable orthodontic appliance for cross bite, narrow arch
  • Anterior sectional fixed orthodontic treatment (ASTBA)
  • Habit breaking appliance for habits like thumb sucking, lip biting
  • Functional appliance for mandibular protrusion

    Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

    Surgical Management of following Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeries are provided.

  • Oral Cancer- both ablative and reconstructive surgery.
  • Surgical Management of benign and malignant oral and maxillofacial pathologies.
  • Reconstruction of both hard and soft tissue defects using pedicled and micro vascular free flaps.
  • Orthognathic surgeries for facial deformities.
  • Temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) Surgeries.
  • Facial corrective surgeries.
  • Dental Implants Surgeries.
  • Minor Surgical Procedures like exodontia (Extraction of tooth) biopsies, splinting, fracture management, apicoectomy, enucleation and marsupialisation of cysts and scar revision

Periodontics

  • Oral prophylaxis including scaling and root planning
  • Halitosis and its treatment
  • Treatment of trauma from occlusion including bruxism
  • Management of dentinal hypersensitivity
  • Gingival curettage
  • Management of gingival enlargement with gingivectomy
  • Periodontal flap surgeries
  • Osseous surgeries (resective and reconstructive)

Prosthodontics

Removable Prosthodontics

  • This includes Full Arch (Fully edentulous) Conventional complete Denture
  • Immediate Denture, Over Denture, Flexible Denture
  • Dentures with Soft Liners and Denture Adjustments
  • Partially edentulous Temporary partial Denture
  • Cast partial Denture, Attachment supported partial Dentures
  • Precision attachment supported partial Dentures and Flexible partial Dentures

Fixed Prosthodontics

    • Crowns and Bridges which include all metal, all ceramic, metal ceramic, Laminate/Veneers, Partial crowns, Inlays and Onlays
    • Post and Core (Prefabricated Fibre Posts and Custom made cast posts)

     

Full Mouth Rehabilitations

  • Smile Designing:-

  • Laminates/Veneers and tooth Contouring (Peg laterals, Malformed  teeth)
  • Implant Prosthodontics:-
  • Implant supported prosthesis for single tooth replacement, for partially edentulous patients, for completely edentulous patients and Screw retained & cement retained crowns

Research & Training

The faculty and senior residents of the department regularly attend Continuing Dental Education Programmes, workshops, courses, seminars, and conferences to keep abreast with the latest advances in technology and research and present scientific papers. Journal clubs and seminars are conducted weekly. The faculty members are also involved in the organising committee of conferences and Continuing Dental Education Programmes. Research Projects are also undertaken and research papers published in index journals.
