SERVICES

OUT PATIENTS (OPD) SERVICES:

The department is well equipped with basic as well as latest equipments to handle all kinds of OPD patients. We are also running following special clinics to provide specialized services in respective fields:

a) Sleep Disorder Clinic Wednesday / 09:00 am to 01:00 pm
b) Lung Cancer Clinic Monday / 09:00 am to 01:00 pm
c) PFT Daily / 09:00 am to 05:00 pm

 

d) Bronchoscopy 5 days in a week (Except Thursday) / 09:00 am onwards

 

e) Pulmonary Rehabilitation Daily 09:00 am to 05:00 pm

INDOOR PATIENTS SERVICES

The department offers indoor treatment facilities for patients who need hospitalisation through a total of 47 beds for both male and female patients. The emergency services are available round the clock through emergency department and we are adequately equipped to deal with all respiratory emergencies. The department has recently added a 7 bedded Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) to cater critically ill respiratory patients.

  • Surveillance and drug distribution center for all types of tuberculosis patients.
  • Non-invasive Ventilation
  • Pulmonary Rehabilitation
  • Computerised Pulmonary function testing with Body Plethysmography with Diffusion study

NEW FACILITIES ADDED

  1. The department has started Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) in 202
  2. The department has started Semi Rigid Thoracoscopy.
  3. The department has started Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) guided TBNA for the diagnosis of respiratory diseases.
  4. The department has started Thoracic Ultrasound sonography since 13.2.2014 to aid in the management of OPD/IPD patients with respiratory diseases.

TEACHING PROGRAMME FOR

Our department has 02 DM (Pulmonary Medicine) seats per year which are recognized by NMC. The students undergo a comprehensive training schedule as per NMC guidelines which include theory classes, bed side teaching and practical trainings, critical care posting, seminars, journal clubs, OPD and IPD work, research etc.

COMMUNITY SERVICES :

Organization of free medical camps (TB, Asthma, COPD etc.) for lower socio-economic strata patients in the sub urban localities and slums, is our regular feature. Asthma awareness workshops/public lectures for general public and patients are being regularly organized to educate them on the subject to manage their disease better. Health education of general public through mass media e.g. newspapers, radio etc. is also a regular feature of department.

RESEARCH & TRAINING:

  • The department is actively engaged in regular organization of various symposia, seminars, guest lecturers, practical training courses etc. to help medical students, practicing and govt. service doctors in updating their knowledge and skill in the specialty. The department has been regularly undertaking need oriented clinical research in the field of tuberculosis, MDR-TB, AIDS and other respiratory diseases.
  • The department has published around 60 original research papers in various national and international journals of repute. The faculty members have presented 200 papers in various national and international conferences. The faculty members have been participating regularly in various academic meets as guest lectures, members in consensus meetings, chairpersons of scientific sessions, members of university board of studies etc.
